Collection: SOLAR CHARGE CONTROLLERS
A solar charge controller is an electronic device that regulates the flow of electricity from a solar panel to a battery or multiple batteries. It is an important component of a solar power system, as it ensures that the batteries are charged efficiently and safely.
There are two types of charge controllers: PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) and MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking).
PWM charge controllers are the most basic type, and they regulate the charging of the batteries by controlling the amount of time that power is sent to the batteries.
MPPT charge controllers are more advanced and efficient, they optimize the amount of power that is sent to the batteries by adjusting the voltage and current. MPPT charge controllers are able to capture more power from the solar panels, especially during periods of low light or partial shading, resulting in a faster charging time and a longer battery life.
Both PWM and MPPT charge controllers have their own advantages and disadvantages, and the choice between them depends on the specific needs of the solar power system.
